Meet Laverne

Laverne is a senior female Domestic Shorthair/Mix cat who weighs 9 pounds.

Sweet Laverne is approaching an anniversary that no animal in a shelter wants to have - later this summer, she and her sister, Shirley, will be at MLAR for one year.  We are hoping that they find a home (or homes) before that happens.

Laverne is a senior who came from a home with multiple cats. She was pregnant when she arrived and went to a foster home where her kittens were born. She was a good mom to them - her kittens were all adopted many months ago. We cannot imagine how many litters Laverne has had in her lifetime. This was her last. She is a sweet, shy lady who must be tired! She recently had her remaining teeth removed and is in much better spirits. She is so cute as her tongue hangs out! Laverne likes to be pet and has become quite social recently. She enjoys spending time with people - we think she decided that she is finally ready to be adopted.  She loves playing with wand toys and will chase after them. Her sister, Shirley, would love to go with her too! She is FIV+ - which means she has a weakened immune system and can still have a long life. (But she doesn't have any teeth - so is not able to spread FIV thru bites to other cats.)  After taking care of kittens all her life, Laverne would love to be spoiled and pampered in a quiet home for her golden years!.

More information about FIV can be found at this link: https://bestfriends.org/pet-care-resources/fiv-cats-feline-immunodeficiency-virus-faqs

We’re dedicated to finding the right home for all of our pets, and ensuring that each adoption has the best interest of the pet and the family at heart.

Please note that adoption procedures differ across the MLAR/PSPCA websites, so if you are interested in a particular animal, please check to see which location is the host.
